Kyogre Rising from Depths Coloring Page
Kyogre Rising from Depths Coloring Page
Kyogre emerging from ocean depths creates a dramatic scene that captures the legendary Pokémon at its most powerful moment. The swirling water, massive form breaking the surface, and dynamic movement give you plenty of interesting elements to work with beyond just coloring the creature itself.
What colors work best?
Deep ocean blues are the obvious choice for Kyogre’s body, but layering different shades makes it come alive. Try navy or indigo for the darker markings, then blend into cerulean or cobalt for the main body. The red markings on Kyogre’s fins and body edges pop beautifully against cool blues. For the water itself, consider mixing teals and turquoise near the surface where light hits, then gradually shift to deeper prussian blue or even purple-tinged blues in the shadows. White or pale blue highlights on water droplets and spray add that fresh-from-the-ocean feeling.
Did you know?
Kyogre is based on the leviathan from Hebrew mythology and orcas, which explains its massive size and ocean-dwelling nature. In Pokémon lore, Kyogre actually expanded the seas by covering the land with torrential rains and tidal waves, making it one of the few Pokémon whose actions literally shaped the world. Its counterpart Groudon did the opposite by expanding the land, and the two have been locked in an ancient rivalry that predates human civilization in the Pokémon world.
How to color this one
Colored pencils work wonderfully here because you can build up layers for depth, especially in the water. Start light and add darker blues gradually in the shadowed areas under Kyogre’s body and in the deeper water. Gel pens or white pencils are fantastic for adding bright highlights on wet surfaces and water spray. If you’re using markers, work from light to dark and leave some white space for foam and splashes. Pay attention to where light would hit the rising water and Kyogre’s back.
Who’ll love this?
Pokémon fans who appreciate the legendary creatures will enjoy this one, especially those who played the Hoenn region games. The dynamic composition suits anyone who likes action scenes rather than static portraits. This works well as a weekend project since the water effects and shading can take some time to get just right.
