Pikachu Friend Coloring Page
Not quite what you're looking for?
Make your ownPikachu has been the face of Pokémon since 1996, and this electric mouse knows how to make friends wherever it goes. This coloring page shows Pikachu in a friendly pose, maybe waving or surrounded by other Pokémon pals, giving you a chance to bring one of gaming’s most recognizable characters to life with your own color choices.
What colors work best?
The classic Pikachu look uses bright yellow for the body, with red circles on the cheeks and black-tipped ears. The tail has that distinctive brown stripe at the base. If you want to stay true to the original, pair your yellows with a warm brown for shading rather than gray. For the background or any friend Pokémon in the scene, consider soft blues or greens to make Pikachu’s yellow really pop. Some colorers like to experiment with shiny or alternate versions using orange or even pastel yellows for a softer look.
Did you know?
Pikachu wasn’t originally supposed to be Pokémon’s mascot—that role was intended for Clefairy. The creators changed their minds when they saw how popular Pikachu became with viewers of the anime. Also, Pikachu’s name comes from two Japanese words: “pika,” the sound of electricity sparking, and “chu,” the sound a mouse makes. In early Pokémon game designs, Pikachu actually looked much rounder and stubbier before evolving into the sleeker design we know today.
How to color this one
Colored pencils work beautifully for Pikachu since you can layer different shades of yellow to create dimension. Start with a lighter yellow as your base and add a golden or darker yellow in the shadowed areas. The red cheeks look best when you blend from the center outward, keeping the edges softer. If you’re using markers, test your yellows first since some can look too neon or too pale. For the black details like the ear tips and eyes, wait until everything else is dry to avoid smudging.
Who’ll love this?
This one appeals to Pokémon fans of any age, from kids who just discovered the games to adults who grew up with the original series. It works well as a quick coloring session since Pikachu’s design isn’t overly complicated, making it nice for a relaxing afternoon activity or something to do while rewatching your favorite Pokémon episodes.
